The Law Offices of Russell D. Bernstein, P.A., The Legal Helpline-A Private Law Firm, has proudly represented the citizens of Coral Springs since 1999, and began practicing law in 1997. With its main office conveniently located on 10101 W Sample Rd #108, Coral Springs, FL 33065, the Firm has zealously defended clients throughout this proud suburb. From the Sawgrass Expressway to State Road 7 (441), and from Atlantic Boulevard to University Drive, the Firm is extremely familiar with Coral Springs, which is located in northwest Broward county, just a little bit south of the Palm Beach county line.
Safety is a priority in Coral Springs, and the Police Department has a strong presence throughout the town. There are several elementary, middle, and charter schools throughout the area which maintain strict school zone speed limits in order to ensure safety. The high schools are Coral Glades High School, Coral Springs High School, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and J.P. Taravella High School. Teenage drivers need to be very aware of these school zone speed limits for these schools. The speed limit for school zones in Broward county is 15 miles per hour and is strictly enforced by law enforcement. Young drivers need to understand that a school zone ticket carries enhanced fines and penalties. The Law Offices of Russell D. Bernstein, P.A., defends those traffic tickets as well as all traffic citations in Broward county. As a young driver, it is critical to try to avoid points and convictions from hitting your record at such a young age. These infractions can have dramatic future consequences on your driving privileges, such as restricting your license or even possibly suspending it.
The Charter School is located across the street from the Firm’s office. It is on the southeast corner of Sample Road and University Drive. Drivers of all ages need to be aware that it is extremely common to have the C.S.P.D. stationed on their motorcycles on the corners of Sample Road and University Drive. The police are not only on the lookout for speeding cars and motorcycles, but are also looking out for red light runners. The C.S.P.D. has been aggressive in enforcing these violations, so one must drive with extreme caution at this intersection to avoid being cited.
Avoiding car accidents is of utmost importance in the city of Coral Springs, which is another reason why there is such a police presence there. For a typical car accident, four points can be assessed on the party at fault in the accident if a citation was issued. Common Florida statute violations for car accidents are Florida State Statute 316.1925(1) which is the careless driving statute. The improper lane change statute is 316.085 and the following too closely statute in Florida is 316.0895. The running a red light statute is 316.075(1)(c)(1). The failure to yield the right of way when making a left turn, Florida State Statute 316.122 is quite common as well, usually because the person turning gets struck by a speeding vehicle.
What the population of Coral Springs and Broward county needs to realize is that there are numerous defenses to these citations. Accident tickets tend to get dismissed more than other types of citations due to a Florida law known as the accident report privilege. In essence, this privilege stands for the principal that statements exchanged during a crash investigation are privileged, and are generally inadmissible in traffic court. Therefore, more often than not, the person involved in the crash with the driver, whether it’s the passenger or person in the other vehicle, needs to come to Court to have the citation hold up against the Defendant. These type of arguments need to be made by counsel at the North Satellite Courthouse in Deerfield Beach, where these types of cases are heard in front of the County Court Judges or Traffic Magistrates. Our Law Offices, makes these arguments on behalf of its clients.
Coral Springs Police also liberally give traffic tickets and moving violations for all speeding violations, improper u-turn citations, running red lights, stop sign tickets, the failure to yield right of way, and many, many others. At the time of the stop, the police may be looking for criminal activity, such as an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle or the possession of a weapon in plain view. Please remember that there may be potential defenses to all of these alleged traffic and criminal issues. All traffic and criminal defense matters are handled by The Law Offices of Russell D. Bernstein, P.A., The Legal Helpline-A Private Law Firm. We proudly defend everything from a traffic ticket up to a second degree felony.
